A purpose-built practice designed around growth, flow and patient comfort
The brief for Gentle Dental Hervey Bay was ambitious from the beginning: create a warm, spacious and highly functional dental practice that would feel like the best building in Hervey Bay.
The site presented an important design opportunity. Although the property was accessed from a court, it backed onto a main road with excellent exposure. OPTIMA’s design team carefully considered the building position, orientation and external presentation to maximise visibility from the main road while also responding to neighbouring site conditions. The result is a healthcare facility that feels confident, welcoming and connected to its setting.
Inside, the practice was designed around flow, comfort and future growth. Seven fully equipped surgeries provide the clinical capacity Gentle Dental needed, with dual-entry access supporting efficient movement between patient areas, clinical spaces and back-of-house functions. This layout improves day-to-day workflow for clinicians and support staff, particularly in a busy practice designed to accommodate continued growth.
Clinical planning was shaped by the way the team wanted to work. The inclusion of a central sterilisation area gives the practice the infrastructure needed to deliver comprehensive care with confidence and efficiency.
The interior design reflects Gentle Dental’s warm and community-focused approach to care. Light natural timbers, copious natural light and greenery create a bright, refined and approachable environment. Wide hallways, high ceilings and a spacious layout contribute to a sense of openness, helping the practice feel calm and easy to navigate for both patients and staff.
Delivering a ground-up dental practice new build in regional Queensland required careful coordination across every stage. OPTIMA’s integrated design and construction model gave the client one clear point of accountability, reducing complexity and allowing the Gentle Dental team to stay focused on running their practice while their new flagship facility took shape.
